This beautiful summer day in Vancouver, Washington started with a busy, cold and cloudy morning.
The private backyard of this estate was about to be a wedding venue for the day!
While the team was getting ready outside, my second photographer Ellie & I were capturing day-of details and more importantly: the bride & groom.
The florals for this wedding were a perfect mix of blush pinks, mauve and a bit of greenery. The Florist Cycles of Bloom is so talented with her floral arrangements, and today was no different!
I mean check out the amazing work she did for the ceremony space! Those blush pinks pop against that blue & green backdrop.
The details of weddings are usually the best part, and this backyard wedding was no different. Misty really put her all into designing the wedding of her dreams and made sure even the guestbook table stood out. The elegant tea party style fans & gloves really were a beautiful touch.
The cake was designed & made by Kendra Storm, Cakes by Kendra, isn’t it stunning? The Vancouver Washington sky changed a lot throughout the day but we were so glad to see sunshine & the skies clearing up before the ceremony!
Misty’s wedding party attire was so well coordinated even though they had “mismatched” dresses. They were all a beautiful blush pink but different style that each bridesmaid chose to flatter her own body! They all looked amazing by the way.
Of course her shoes had the perfect amount of glam with a sweet touch on the sandal strap.
Misty and her bridesmaid were so much fun! A combination of her friends, family and best of all: sisters.
Her dress was perfect for this romantic backyard wedding. It had beautiful detailing with a floral lace overlay, flaring out at her legs into tulle & lace. And of course, a long elegant cathedral veil to top it off.
She had no shortage of help! Everyone throughout the day of was so helpful & so much fun. Misty did so much organizing and planned the whole day herself. It’s quite impressive and when the day got here, her wedding went off without a hitch thanks to her meticulous planning & delegating.
Mike’s details were just as perfect! The boutonnière & tie had the perfect mix of floral & masculinity.
As always, the getting ready area for the guys really was a fun one! A lot of his guys are people from his racing team. They all were happy to be there & really close.
We had a lot of laughs during their whole wedding day, thanks to the racing guys!
The first look was on the upstairs balcony of the estate. Overlooking the whole backyard, but still tucked away and private.
Mike’s first look reaction was the sweetest, he was blown away as his beautiful bride & didn’t try to hide it.
The first look is always amazing, the brides hard work with finally coming to fruition! Especially when the groom cheers her on as she gives him a twirl.
Back in the getting ready suite, the bridesmaids & bride are all ready and saying a sweet prayer before the ceremony.
Each girl offered up a wedding day prayer and really made the moment special. The in between moments at weddings are my favorite part. You can just see the emotion, excitement and anticipation the bride is feeling.
The wedding guests are arriving! So many family and friends coming into Vancouver just for these two. Mike & Misty have a great community and it really shows.
The guestbook girls are welcoming guests with their cute tea party gloves and really getting the whole event started.
As we were waiting for the guests to find their seats, the sweet flower girls were watching from inside. Each girl has a lovely white tulle dress with a flower crown of greenery and blush pink flowers.
Misty & the flower girls are ready to go, waiting for their signal to head down the aisle!
As the bride & flower girls wait, Mike & his guys head up the aisle.
The ring bearers were so cute! They each wore a sign, one saying “Don’t worry ladies, I’m still single” another “Mike! Get ready, here comes my Auntie” and the last little cutie’s sign saying “Here comes the bride!”.
The guests are eagerly awaiting the bride to make her entrace.
Misty’s Mom & Dad walk her down the aisle, while Mike’s Mom gets emotional and dries her tears as Misty gets closer.
Her mom & dad give her away at the front of the aisle and now the ceremony is well under-way!
Misty’s veil flows out behind her as she & Mike face the pastor (who is also her brother!).
Above you can see me, Natalie, in action: quickly getting a few shots down the center aisle.
The ring bearers didn’t last long in the heat, with one left standing! So cute.
The wedding guests all had amazing attire and matched the summer wedding so well! Some with blush pink and navy blue, others with colorful summer outfits.
The team playing for the wedding was amazing!
Especially the singers, one of which I happened to meet before meeting Misty! It was a funny story, I was mentoring another photographer in downtown Portland. She had brought on her own models so I didn’t know them. The next morning I was meeting Misty at the estate to go over timeline & layout for photos. Just so happened to be that the girl modeling was her employee! So there she was cleaning for Misty & I had just met her the night before. So funny!
They are doing the planting of the unity tree during the ceremony!
Mike & Misty say yes to a life together with all their guests cheering them on from their seats! I love seeing the shot facing the guests, it really shows all their excitement for the couple. Another reason to have a second photographer!
Straight into bridal portraits, these two really are stunning!
Here is another behind the scenes shot of me working my magic!
One of the most fun parts of the day: bridal portraits! This group’s outfits were gorgeous, and they were very fun.
The taupe bridesmaids outfits and the navy blue groomsmen suits complimented their skin tones so well! And stood out in the best way against the rolling blue hills in the background.
The bridesmaids and groomsmen were so excited for Mike & Misty’s next chapter in life!
Here I am again: another behind-the-scenes shot, all thanks to my second photographer! My wedding photographer outfit brought to you by ASOS, (the blush pink to match the wedding) and my camera straps by Rose Anvil Leather Company.
The dance floor was made by the bride’s brothers, just for the wedding!
The bride & groom make their grand entrance to their reception getting a warm welcome from their guests. Heading right into their first dance, the sun was shining away!
Of course we had to see them cut their stunning Cake by Kendra, and they definitely did a little cake smashing!
The kiddos were so excited for the dessert… and who are we kidding? So were the adults! The ice cream bar was a great wedding reception idea. Perfect for a backyard wedding since we don’t have to worry so much about spilled ice cream or stray candies. The toppings at the ice cream bar were so delicious looking!
One of the sweetest bouquet tosses I’ve seen! The little girl who caught it was so pleased & proud of her catch.
This wedding was one of the last ones before I got my photobooth! Misty asked for recommendations for photobooth rentals and everyone was fully booked. So now I am offering photobooths, thanks to my lovely couples!
Wrapping up the party with some sweet, some funny toasts!
One final kiss at the reception, and this Vancouver, Washington wedding is almost done!
The limo waits outside for the bride and groom while the wedding guests make their way to the front, bubbles in hand.
The reception exit for this backyard wedding was so great! The sunset mixed with bubbles from the happy guests, made for some amazing shots.
Vancouver really showed up for these two today, it had been on and off raining the week prior! And here we are getting an amazing sunset.
Mike helps his beautiful bride into the waiting limo, heading off for the night! Of course the sweet nieces and nephews had to get one last goodbye in before they left.
Waving goodbye, out of her white wedding limo, Misty looks so happy! Just married, here they come!
